From Guests to Family:
Meet Charlotte and Caj
At Parador Nature Resort & Spa, we’re fortunate to welcome travelers from all over the world— but some guests become so much more. Charlotte and Caj are a perfect example. For the past several years, they’ve returned to Parador for an extended stay of at least two months, embracing the resort as their home away from home.

The Beginning of a Beautiful Bond
Their Journey Begins...
Their Parador journey began as participants of a Fishing Championship in 2018. Upon leaving their home base of Portugal, what they found was more than just the property hosting the tournament. They discovered a peaceful escape surrounded by nature—a place filled with warmth, genuine hospitality, and a deep connection to the environment and community. From the very beginning, the lush gardens, panoramic ocean views, and abundance of wildlife made a lasting impression.
Why They Keep Coming Back
What Keeps them Coming Back?
It’s not just about beautiful views and luxury; Charlotte and Caj have built close relationships with the Parador team. The warm, inviting atmosphere makes them feel like they’re part of the Parador family. For them, it’s about more than just a vacation—it’s about coming home.
“What keeps us coming back year after year? We have travelled a lot, but for us Costa Rica and the Parador are the best of the best. The Parador has everything we could ever wish for. It offers nature, wildlife, beauty, ambience, comfort, culinary excellence, tranquility, consistency, beautiful views over the Pacific Ocean and above all, incredibly special, hospitable, and amazing people.”

Favorite Experiences & Hidden Gems
From Gardens to Gourmet: Their Favorite Parador Moments
Caj and Charlotte have built close relationships with team members and appreciate the welcoming atmosphere that makes them feel like part of the Parador family. For them, it’s not just about relaxing by the pool, enjoying a massage, or spotting monkeys and sloths—it’s about being surrounded by a community that truly cares.
And even though the Monkey Trail is a wonderful walk, Caj and Charlotte find even more joy in simply wandering the gardens as the wildlife is easier to spot and very accessible in the lower trees and plants surrounding the hotel.
They also love discovering the fresh, locally inspired dishes offered at Parador’s restaurants. They’re especially fond of the attentive service and beautifully prepared meals that turn dinner into a daily highlight. A perfect day might start with a fishing outing on the Vuelto Loco Charter boat—tuna and mahi mahi is their go-to catch—followed by having the chef prepare it just the way they like it. Their favorite culinary experience? The elegant Bocado de Reyes tasting menu curated by executive chef Rodrigo Salazar - an unforgettable experience for all senses.

Look up! Most wildlife is in the trees

Explore both the gardens and the Monkey Trail
-
Book multiple tours—especially to Manuel Antonio and night walks
-
Go out early! Wildlife is most active in the morning
-

And their most heartfelt recommendation?
“Enjoy the incredible nature and the abundant wildlife. Doing tours with the expert naturalists adds a special and deeper dimension to understanding the flora and fauna which make Costa Rica paradise on Earth. As nature is as abundant in the sea as on land, a sunset cruise or a fishing tour either inshore or offshore aboard the luxurious boat Vuelto Loco is an unforgettable must.”
